About Me
Hi, I'm Erin, a graphic designer. I strongly believe I could have been an engineer if I were better at math. I like solving problems, figuring out how things work, and making things make sense. Fortunately, my brain is much better at the creative part.
I believe good design should have a purpose. Before I start making something look good, I want to understand what it's supposed to communicate, who it's for, and what it needs to accomplish. From there, I enjoy figuring out how design can make that message clearer, more useful, and visually engaging.
My favorite work tends to be where communication and design meet. I especially enjoy branding, print, and digital design, and I love taking information that might otherwise feel overwhelming or uninteresting and finding a way to make it visually compelling. I'm the person who picks up packaging and studies it in a store or notices a really well-designed brochure and starts thinking about why it works.
A Little About My Experience
After graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design, I started my career working mainly in print communications, creating and editing materials for conferences and speakers. Sometimes the challenge isn't creating something beautiful; it's figuring out how to communicate a lot of information clearly and effectively. I then expanded into roles and projects that allowed me to dig much deeper into branding, print, and campaign design.
Later, I found the variety of projects and collaborative environment I had been looking for within a marketing agency. I worked with a wide array of clients across healthcare, higher education, technology, hospitality, aviation, nonprofits, and plenty of industries in between. This is where I really expanded into digital design while continuing to build on my foundation in print.
I eventually moved into a Senior Graphic Designer role and took on the responsibilities of leading and training new team members. I became someone who was known for being helpful, making people feel seen and supported, and building genuine friendships between team members.
Today, I continue to work across print and digital design, along with freelance projects.
How I Work
I thoroughly enjoy being part of a team. I'm naturally helpful and collaborative, and I like bringing people together and helping them feel supported. I also believe good design requires good communication. I'm comfortable receiving feedback, asking questions, researching when I need to, and changing direction when the project calls for it.
I've also learned over the years not to be precious about my work. A design can be something I'm proud of without needing to be something I have to defend at all costs. At the end of the day, the work exists to serve the client, the audience, and the message, not a designer's ego.
Outside of Design
I'm a bit of a homebody and a big fan of simple pleasures: games, puzzles, coloring, movies, and all things cozy. I'm also athletic and love to get outside and be active, especially with my dog.
Basically, I like making stuff, figuring things out, helping people, and doing good work without taking myself too seriously.
